Hello From Odessa
Thanks everyone for the comments left on our blog yesterday. You all brought a big smile to our faces. We are excited to hear from anyone back home so please send us messages!
We just left Sophie at the orphanage. Today was great! When we walked up, her little "groupa" (like her little class) was playing outside. The other children starting calling her telling her that her mama and papa were here. She saw us and started walking towards us. When Lee bent down she took off running with her arms wide open! That melted Lee's heart! Today was the first time that she seemed really happy to see us. Then, after a few minutes Lee smacked his lips at her and she reached up and kissed him right on the lips! So she already has Daddy wrapped around her little finger!
We both just love her to pieces. She is more attached to Lee than me right now but she still lets me love on her and play with her. She loves cheerios and white grapes. Every day we bring food and drink and toys and she loves it all.
We talked to a doctor who works with internationally adopted children. He said she looks great! We know she is healthy. Looking around at the other children, we can really see our prayers answered. There are many children with health problems. So we know that we are blessed. We definitely have the prettiest little girl there. (We aren't a bit biased!)
We met another American there adopting a little girl. She was a little younger but she had some health problems. It would really break your heart to see these little orphans. One little boy just raises his arms to us every time we see him. He just begs for attention. We've been told not to have much to do with the other children so we don't make them think we've come for them. That would be too cruel. But you really want to love on them all. One little boy hugged my leg and told me "One day my mama comes for me too."
Well, Lee says hello. We have groceries with us that we need to get refridgerated, so we must go. We can't wait to get Sophie and get home. Hopefully it will be soon.
We love you all! Thank you for all of your prayers and support.
