Our Ukraine Adoption

We have created a journal for all of our friends and family to follow us on our adoption in Ukraine. We ask for your prayers as we go on an adventure of a lifetime and hopefully come home with a sister for Jordan and Chase and a daughter for us.

We have a travel date!

Hello everyone! Well, just when I had given up on hearing anything about a travel date the unexpected happened! I was driving to school this morning when my adoption agency called to tell me that I have an appointment in Ukraine at the NAC for July 11! I am so excited. We will leave probably on July 9th. So, now the mad rush begins to get ready. We are going to Children's Hospital in Birmingham in June to work with their international adoption department to help us while we are in the country. We will be able to call the doctors here and give information on a child and they will give us their opinion about health issues.

For those of you who are getting ready to go through this process, I will try to post information that you may be interested in. I'm going to start making flight reservations soon. I will try to post airlines, travel agents... that we use.

I have been very pleased with everything that has happened so far. I have heard about so many people having to have documents redone because this has taken longer than a year. The only thing I have had to do is get a new marriage certificate apostilled from the Secretary of State in Alabama. That is done! All of my other paperwork should be good until September. I give my adoption agency credit for this because they helped us know what order to complete paperwork. They told us when to hold off on things so that they would not expire.

Please keep us in your prayers. The hardest part is still ahead of us. I am already getting butterflies in my stomach. I dread leaving my boys at home. I've never been away from them over a night or two. I'm second guessing our decision to leave them here. Although, I still think it will be better on them to stay. I'm just going to miss them.
Have a great day!
Shannan
